And the only thing different? The receptionists aren’t British.

That was fabulously funny, but sad if this is how you’ve been treated, my friend.
OMG – I hope they aren’t that bad! (That was funny as ish though.
Where the client asks, “Well can you talk to someone?” and the ditz answers, “I *could*, but . . .” That is so right on!! I have to laugh or else I’m going to go postal for sure.
Completely my experience at every NYC doctor’s office and hospital in the last year. WTF?
I get that people are not paid well, but what the hell ever happened to pride in your job? One summer, in possession of a Masters degree and in a doctoral program, I worked for a local publisher doing some of the most routine and–what some would call–menial tasks imaginable. I didn’t like it all the time, but I did the best possible job that I could do. These physicians needs to walk the talk of their “holistic approaches” and realize that their livelihoods are being represented by assholes. In this whole experience there has been one receptionist that has been pleasant, kind, and who does her job well. And when I saw her last week I made sure to tell her that.
